Bonnie Driggers aka "Mow Mama"
Bonnie Driggers aka Mow Mama #209 I got started racing after my son, Daniel (aka Grasskicker #211) got involved in racing. For all of his first racing year, he kept nagging for me to race a mower, and I kept telling him you'd NEVER get my fanny on one, well, I then attended my first race, and I was hooked. The part I was the most impressed with, is that even though he was only 16, he was treated like an equal, and I knew I wanted to be involved in a sport with such nice people, plus it looked like so much fun. I am in the IMOW class, and this is my second year racing. I rode in the Stock and the Super Stock classes last year, and took 3rd place trophies for the season in both classes. I also was "honored" to recieve a the "Best 13 laps, and not winning a race" trophy. My entire family, (husband, Lewis aka "Lawnatic", son and myself)were the recipents of the "Least Improved Award at the end of the year...Thanks alot guys! (I always knew the men in my family were gonna take me down!!). I look forward to each race to not only "Kick some grass", but so I can see my racing family again.

Mike VanDevender
My name is Mike VanDevender. I am from Bridge City, Texas. My mower is named "Red Rocket" My number is 21. I got the number from My favorite Nascar Driver... Ricky Rudd. He later went to another number but I kept it anyway. I've been racing in the A/P class for 3 years. I first saw lawnmower racing on TV, and my friend Tom (my team mate) and I went to our first race in Houston. That is where I met Mike Cupps. He pointed me in the right direction..(Thanxs Mike).. I have a 3 year old son. His name is Jace. I raced motocross ATV's for 6 years and I got in a bad wreck and almost broke my neck on a track in Houston. I Thought lawnmower racing would be a safer sport until I wrecked my mower in Paris,Texas in 2004...LOL. Once I did my first lawnmower race I was addicted. Besides racing, I love hanging out with the great people at the races. It's like one big happy Family. |
Tom Kelly
My name is Tom Kelly, I currently live in Marshall, TX. I am originally from Bridge City, TX, near Beaumont. This is my third year as a member of the LSMRA and I race in the A/P and F/X classes. I race the # 212 "Mowler Lite" and won the 2004 LSMRA State Championship in the A/P class my rookie year. I got into lawnmower racing after seeing it on TV and being egged on by my teammate Mike Vandevender # 21. In 2003 we both built what we thought were racing lawnmowers and luckily didn't kill ourselves. Later that year we went to a LSMRA race in Livingston, TX and talked to John Nelson, Mike Cupps, and Ronnie Drew about what we needed to do to build real racing lawnmowers. They helped us out a lot and we spent all winter building and getting ready for the 2004 season. I finally made it to my first race in April of 2004 and even won! After taking the 2006 season off, I am now back hoping for another championship. |

Richard Ryder III
I started racing lawnmowers 2 years ago when my good friend "Mowreo Andretti" introduced me to the sport. I have only raced a couple of times due to mower nutrition ( keeping it running ), but am looking forward to many more races in the future. My mower is named "Alfa Mowreo" and my number is 162. My wife rolls her eyes and my daughter and son just smile and say "thats my dad". I am 46 and could not ask to be around a better bunch of people. Thanks LSMRA !!! |
Scott W. Bittle aka "Mowbi-Wan-Kenobi"
My name is Scott W. Bittle and I live in Hope, Arkansas working as a Code Enforcement Officer for the City. Although I am not from Texas, I have been happily married to a Texan for the last 24 years. After seeing the Texas group race with the Arkansas group in Hope in 2006, I was hooked. During the next 9 months I built and tested my first racer. With the assistance and advice from the members of the LSMRA I made corrections in that build and built my new S/P class racer, #396, the “Mowlenuim Falcon”. The LSMRA invited me in with open arms and I have met a lot of great people I now call my FRIENDS. “Remember, the force will be with you, always!”

Caroll D. Campbell aka "Mowertified"
Caroll D. Campbell (56) has been a member of the USLMRA and LSMRA for two years.
After attending the 2006 Autorama Show in Dallas, TX, Caroll was hooked on mower racing after meeting some of the members of the LSMRA. He did not finish building his racing mower until the start of the 2007-2008 racing season. The 2008 season is considered Caroll's 'Rookie Year' as the large letter 'R' is displayed on the back of his racing helmet for those to see who are trailing him during the races.
Caroll's racing call name is MOWERtified. MOWERtified stands for being truly a 'Certified Mower Racing' lunatic or just plain crazy. Caroll has named his racing MOWchine as GizMOW with racing number X56 and he is currently racing in the B/P class.
Caroll and his wife, Teresa, a.k.a. SLOWMOW have been married for 29 years and both are native Texans growing up in the Dallas area. They currently reside in McKinney, TX and have two sons and three grandchildren.
Today, Caroll has a few races under his belt and he contributes his success to the great friends that he has made who are associated with LSMRA club. Go Lone Star.

Michelle Bittle #395
I am Michelle Bittle from Hope, Arkansas. I am Texan by birth and Arkansan by marriage. My racing mower is #395 and I am married to Scott Bittle, the President of MTI Racing (Multi-Talented Individual) and Vice President of the LSMRA. I began racing in 2008 in the IMOW Class. I was third in my class that season and received the "Rookie of the Year" award. I was eligible for the Topsy Turvy Award (flipping me and my mower) in 2008 and 2009. This is not an award I work hard to receive. This is a wonderful family sport. Our three children, their spouses and my five grandchildren are often at the races supporting and cheering me on. I have a master’s degree in behavior psychology and lawnmower racing is a great release from work! |

My name is Eddy Akin and I am from Prescott, Arkansas. My racing mower’s name is TAZ-MOW! I have been racing with the LSMRA since 2007 and in 2009 was elected to the position of Track Steward. I race in the S/P Class and was 2nd in State in 2008; 2nd in State and received the Driver of the Year Award in 2009. I love the challenge of building a mower and racing it. My mower is ready for the C/P class and it ROARS. I have helped my husband build his mowers and mine. Yes, I know a wrench from a screw driver and a fly wheel from a transmission. As of the season of 2009, I was elected Treasurer and have been the Flagger for the LSMRA races. I share my husband’s passion for the races and I am proud to be a part of this group. |

Marion E. Neel, Jr. #122
I am Marion E. Neel, Jr. a/k/a Capt’n Khaos, from College Station, Texas and I love racing lawnmowers!! I saw my first race in Bryan, Texas in May of 2008. The deep throated rumble of those mowers during that race just moved my soul. Afterwards, I couldn’t wait to talk with the racers to ask how to get involved with this excitement. By September of 2008, I entered my first race. I built a racer for the IMOW Class from my late Mother’s lawnmower. I purchased a racing mower from Mike Cupps to race in the BP Class. I placed 2nd in both classes during the 2009 Season. I had a lot to learn about building a racing mower and racing. The support I have from this group of people is overwhelming. I am addicted to the sport and the chance to get "away" from it all with my LSMRA friends. "It’s a full-time job being Marion Neel." |
Sammie Neel #N09
I race "Love Mowtion N09" in the IMOW Class and I am Sammie Neel from College Station, Texas. If I am behind in a race, the racer in front could see "Pucker Up - Here I Come" on the front of my mower should they look over their shoulder. If I happen to be in front, they can read "Kiss This" with a big pair of red lips on the back of my mower. My objective is to be in FRONT. My husband, Marion Neel, is instrumental in my involvement of racing lawnmowers. He has built and maintained my racing mower. I began racing mid-season of 2009. I love racing, but just as important is the camaraderie and professionalism of the LSMRA group. A real plus is that we get to travel and see a lot of Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma and meet a lot of GREAT spectators at the races. This is a terrific sport for the participants and people who like to watch it. |
