John Nelson aka: Sir Lawnsalot
I am John Nelson, also known as Sir Lawns-a-lot or John Deere Nelson (due to all machines being yellow and green) and racing number 61. I am the Past-President of the Lone Star Mower Racing Association from 2005 to 2008, Vice President from 2002 to 2005. I have been racing since 2001 in the A/P, S/P, IMOW and F/X classes. I am the three-time winner of the Topsy Turvy (most flips) Award. I saw lawnmower racing on TV and decided to give it a try. I previously participated in the Richard Petty Driving School, Demolition Derby Racing, and tried out for the Junkyard Wars TV show. I was lucky enough to be on the USA Network Commercial "Characters Welcome". I build my own mowers and have raced in 5 of the 6 racing classes. Just look for the Green and Yellow Mowers with the number 61. As Past-President of the LSMRA, I am now a Mow Ambassador for the sport. I am a member of the United States Lawn Mower Racing Association Steering Committee. Although I am now retired from active competitive racing I still do exhibition shows with my John Deere 210, 14 foot, five engine machine called the Mow Longer. Come join in the fun with the best group of women and men anywhere. We will be looking for you at one of our events.

Mike Cupps aka: Mowsemite Sam
My Name is Mike Cupps, I have been a member of the LSMRA since 1998 and was the 4th member of the LSMRA. I didn't have my first race until 2001 and I won the A/P State Championship at that race along with 2 other rookies. My number is 79 - no reason just picked 79. I have raced in A/P, S/P, B/P, F/X and I was Texas State Champion in the IMOW class in 2003 and 2004 and 2nd in F/X in 2004. I am from Corsicana,Texas. I got drawn into mower racing from the internet. I ran across it and started digging and found the LSMRA website. I called Dubba G, the founder of LSMRA, and bent his ear over and over. He told me to join the ranks of mower racing, so I did. It took me 3 years to finally put a mower together the way I thought it should be. After numerous modifications and putting it in different classes over the years I still race that mower. I have a beautiful wife, Vicki, that races IMOW now and does quite well. My dad comes to most of the races with us and always has a good time. I own ACME Mowersports where I sell parts for racing mowers. |
Vicki Vincent
My name is Vicki Vincent. I am from Corsicana,Texas and I love racing lawnmowers. My mower is named "Cowboy Express" because I am the biggest Cowboy fan in Texas. I have 2 daughters and my husband, Mike, that races also. I got interested in lawnmower racing because when Mike and I first got together, he raced and talked me into it, and I have been hooked ever since. Lawnmower racing is about one big family of freinds, having fun and competing to win. |

Dennis Drake
My name is Dennis Drake. I am from Spicewood, Texas and am 54 years old. My racing mowers and I are not named. I am still looking for those perfect names. I race in the S/P and B/P classes and have been racing for two years. I was 3rd in IMOW in 2005 and 2nd in B/P in 2006. Always wanted to race something and after coming within inches of loosing my life and that of my wife's, I decided that I will live every day like it is my last, cause one day it will be. Have tinkered with small engines for over 30 years and enjoy it. And working on my mowers is the best stress relief that I have found yet. I look forward to going to the races, not just for the adrenaline of racing, but more importantly, to see all the folks I call friends from the LSMRA. |
